The Barren-Metcalfe 911 Communications Center has received certification for the Missing Kids Readiness Program. The certification comes from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and indicates a serious, streamlined approach to gathering information about missing children and passing it along to prepare other first responders as thoroughly as possible. Officials with the Barren-Metcalfe 911 Center said the center received the certification after putting in place new protocols based on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Barren-Metcalfe 911 Center is the fourth public safety answering point in the state of Kentucky to receive this certification. The other three are Boyd County 911, Jackson County 911 and Muhlenberg County 911.
