A Hart County elementary school student has won the Kentucky Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest and come up just short of winning the national competition. Kentucky State Police say 10 year old Emma Sanders of Cub Run Elementary School in Hart County won the state poster competition. Her poster was selected as Kentucky’s entry and sent on to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. to compete against the other state selected entries and placed second in the national competition, the first time a Kentucky entry has placed that high. Sanders poster depicted a U.S. flag along with a Kentucky State Trooper holding hands with children. She will receive a Certificate of Excellence from Kentucky State Police and her poster will be displayed at the Kentucky State Fair this summer in the Kentucky State Police Safety Town Exhibit. The contest is an annual event that encourages fifth grade students from across the country to design posters depicting the importance of finding missing children.
