Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown has been sold. It was announced Tuesday, May 1st, that Baptist Healthcare System will purchase Hardin Memorial Hospital and assume all of its debt for 361.4 million dollars. Baptist Health has managed the 300 bed Hardin Memorial Hospital for the past 20 years. The sale is expected to be finalized on December 1st of this year. Hardin County Fiscal Court is the current owner of Hardin Memorial hospital. Under terms of the agreement Hardin County will receive 60 million dollars at closing, another 66.4 million dollars to be paid out over the next 25 years and another 150,000 dollars a year for healthcare services to inmates at the Hardin County Jail. Baptist Healthcare has also committed 235 million dollars over a 10 year period to Hardin Memorial Hospital in operating and capital investments.
