9-18-17 CLINTON COUNTY DEPUTY JAILER ARRESTED

A CLINTON COUNTY DEPUTY JAILER HAS BEEN ARRESTED AS A RESULT OF AN ONGOING PROBE INTO CONTRABAND BEING INTRODUCED INTO THE CLINTON COUNTY JAIL. ACCORDING TO KENTUCKY STATE POLICE, 50 YEAR OLD TONY DENNEY OF ALBANY HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT AND PROMOTING CONTRABAND. DENNEY WAS LODGED IN THE CLINTON COUNTY JAIL. STATE POLICE SAY THIS INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING.

 

9-17-17 TAYLOR COUNTY DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMAN

THE 2018 TAYLOR COUNTY DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMAN OF THE YEAR PROGRAM WAS HELD SATURDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 16th, IN THE TAYLOR COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. THE WINNER WAS LEXI RAIKES. FIRST RUNNER-UP WAS MATTI BLAKEMAN. SECOND RUNNER-UP WAS MACEALA HANSFORD. NANCY COX WAS THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES FOR THE EVENT. SHE IS A TAYLOR COUNTY NATIVE AND 1990 MISS KENTUCKY CURRENTLY WORKING AS A NEWS ANCHOR FOR A LEXINGTON TELEVISION STATION.

 

9-17-17 ONE FATALITY ACCIDENT IN RUSSELL COUNTY

A RUSSELL COUNTY MAN WAS KILLED IN A ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT EARLY SUNDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 17th, IN RUSSELL COUNTY. ACCORDING TO THE RUSSELL COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, 38 YEAR OLD STEVEN WILLIAMS OF RUSSELL SPRINGS WAS THE LONE OCCUPANT IN A 2004 DODGE RAM PICKUP TRUCK INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT ON WEST HIGHWAY 80 IN RUSSELL COUNTY. WILLIAMS WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

 

9-15-17 GREEN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

THE GREEN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th. BOARD MEMBERS APPROVED A TOTAL OVERALL WORKING BUDGET FOR THE 2017-2018 FISCAL YEAR OF ABOUT 16 MILLION DOLLARS, WHICH IS VERY CLOSE TO THE OVERALL BUDGET FOR THE 2016-2017 FISCAL YEAR FOR THE GREEN COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM. THE GREEN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION ALSO GAVE THE GO AHEAD TO SEEK BIDS FOR WORK ON THE GREEN COUNTY AREA TECHNOLOGY CENTER RENOVATION PROJECT. THE GREEN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION WAS AWARDED ABOUT 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS IN WORK READY SKILLS INITIATIVE MONEY FOR RENOVATIONS AND UPGRADES TO THE GREEN COUNTY AREA TECHNOLOGY CENTER. SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IN ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT WAS RAISED AS A RESULT OF A BOND SALE. THE TOTAL PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO COME IN AROUND 2.1 MILLION DOLLARS.

 

9-15-17 TAYLOR FISCAL COURT

TAYLOR COUNTY FISCAL COURT MET IN SPECIAL SESSION THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th. COURT MEMBERS AGREED TO ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE TAYLOR COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM THAT WILL ALLLOW THE TAYLOR COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL TO USE THE BABE RUTH FIELD AT VETERAN'S MEMORIAL PARK IN CAMPBELLSVILLE FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS. COURT MEMBERS ALSO GAVE THEIR APPROVAL TO RE-FINANCING A CAMPBELLSVILLE TAYLOR COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY LOAN THROUGH THE KENTUCKY ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES. IT WAS ALSO NOTED THAT SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th, WOULD BE THE FIRST SATURDAY THAT THE TAYLOR COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER WOULD NOT BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. FEEDING AND WATERING OF ANIMALS AND CLEANING OF THE SHELTER WILL GO ON AS USUAL.
